yeah... I know - it's what I'm calling it from here on out though...
I've got to admit, I'm just not a fan of the Shure M97xE. In my system it's always been dull dull dull and incredibly un-engaging. I understand that loading it in the 65k range really opens the cart up but that would require mod'ing my Seduction to accommodate this one cart and I'm not interested in doing that.
So, several weeks ago I ordered up a Jico SAS N97xE stylus for it and I just can't get over how it transformed this into such a fabulous cartridge. It's dynamic, it's well extended at the extremes without a hint of bloat or brightness, and tracks like a freakin' bloodhound - just a delight to listen to.
I posted here a few weeks ago about a mini-"shootout" a buddy and I did with this cart and the SAS-MM1, V15VMR/SAS, and an AT-150MLx and we both agreed it was the top performer of the bunch (see link). As you all well know, a lot of times enthusiasm fades as time goes on with equipment - this is one of those rare times, however, that I'm every bit as enthusiastic about it as I was when I first heard it!
