A 42M is shown but the 40B looked similar.Garrard 40B changer - cheap plastic plinth and funky stamped metal tonearm parts but it played LPs better than the record-player-in-a-box I had used for years. Pickering cartridge with a dust mop up front. I removed the dust mop promptly and used one of the early versions of a Discwasher record brush. I upgraded to a humble Dual 502 turntable in college that I used for (way to) many years.
Realistic integrated amp - bare bones unit with "Phono" and "Tuner" inputs, separate right/left volume knobs that served as balance control, tone, loudness and mono switches. First real amp with all of 14 watts RMS pumping out of that baby. I thought it was so cool. When I upgraded to a Nikko NA-550 integrated and a matching NT-550 tuner, I felt like I'd become an audiophile.
AR 4xa speakers - Acoustic Research had the best budget speakers back in the day. I used those 4xa speakers for almost 15 years before upgrading to some ADS 780 speakers.
Brings back a lot of fond memories.
Tom
