Surprised at how very decent this "Red Ed"/ESCMG29 cheap cartridge is ... anyone else tried it?

The one above, I mean, it has something of an online following. Can be had online for just under $10 ... I just got two, one for me and the other one for a friend.

I slapped it on my TD160, set it up more or less decently at 2 grams and let it rip - and it's very good! It has crisp highs without being strident, a slightly recessed midrange (the 1980s 'Audio Technica' house sound) and, well, right now it could use a tad more bass, but I haven't had it for an hour!

It looks 90% like an Audio-Technica, but the fitting of the stylus, for example, is totally different from A-T's usual V-shaped magnet distribution. Stylus is a .7, maybe .6, conical tip.

I'm very glad I got these. Anyone else tried them? For $10 I'd say they're a very decent contender!
