I have the original German motor that VPI used in the old days and the newer USA made motor that VPI uses now. Either one is just fine.

Why do you think a different motor would be an upgrade?

VPI does have an upgrade motor that runs at 300 RPM instead of 600 RPM. It produces less vibration and of course has a larger pulley.
