I agree that the scraping sound could be a pressing problem (perhaps a slightly off-center). However, the frequency related issue is more likely dust on your needle. Look VERY closely. If you have a fleck in just the right way it can vibrate. This is a real example of resonance as opposed to what many people around here seem to think resonance is (off my soapbox now).
