There is a lot of what I refer to as 'modern vinyl noise' on new LP pressings these days. Vinyl fill is a common one (crackles at the beginning), and another that I'm experiencing right now is crackling at certain audio frequencies. I'm listening to the new Joe Jackson LP, and some of the piano notes on the B-side crackle. It's annoying. Another really annoying modern day noise is the 'scraping' noise that lasts about a quarter to half a revolution. Holding the LP up to the light, these 'noises' are visible as a shiny streak. None of these problems existed in vinyl's heyday. Why are they so careless now?
