Thank you. This has been a big help. Hmm, I'm not sure about my pressing being any different than yours. I remember hearing something about this one when it came out about how they didn't cut many lacquers for it and kept the EQ the same on each one. I really think it's just impossibly hot!

The AT440MLa I had couldn't handle the 30th DSOTM either. Neither could the 10x5 and Denon DL-160 I heard on someone else's system. My AT150MLX barely hangs in there even though it uses a tiny gold-plated boron cantilever and MicroLine stylus. Plus I must've spent a month fine-tuning the VTA, VTF, and anti-skate!

The old Shure was always head-and-shoulders above just about everything else because of it's thin-wall beryllium cantilever, so it's not even a fair comparison.
