Transporting a Thorens 124 to the US: packaging and voltage

I've finally decided to take my TD 124 when I move to the US next month. Could anyone tell me what I'd need to make it compatible with 110v 60Hz (it's currently (ha, ha) running on 220V 50Hz)?

Also, any advice on how to package it? I'm thinking of transporting it without the plinth and buying another when I get to DC.
