how do you know it's time to replace the stylus?

You might have a look at it under a 30x magnifier and see if there is anything to see. People have had cartridges for 25+ yrs and no degradation. Reports of that stylus' death might be greatly exagerated.

But if you want go buy something else just go do it and keep the B, B.

I am never replacing any of the styluses on my cartridges except for the 103 [read SoundSmith] ... or unless I break something which i guess is highly probable. Which maybe it is a good idea to have an extra stylus on hand, I suppose.

I don`t care much about music.
