First of all, while agreed that he hasn't been as vibrant as a composer and instrumentalist as he was when he was younger, a look at the material on the 4LP set does indicate how rich his contributions have been. The reason I brought up this set is that Stan Ricker had mastered it and it might kick butt sonically.

Speaking of R&H, I'm a big fan. But with this stuff, the performance is the big thing. Pressings CAN make a GREAT difference! The 2-eye original Columbia pressing of Sondheim's "Company" sounds really good, while the later pressings sound flat and anemic, taking a lot of the life from the performances. The difference is quite dramatic, no pun intended.
