Hi, I don't think it's a gain issue. I'm using the Ortofon 2M Bronze which is a moving magnet cart with an output of 5mV, and my phono stage is good for that, so says the instruction manual. Though this wouldn't be the first time I was wrong about something.

I'm not sure if I want to mess with the VTA too much at this point, cause I had the dealer set it up for me, and I'm scared I might make things worse and not be able to get it back to where he had it. It looks to be perfectly horizontal when stylus is in the groove. Could I try adding a thicker mat, to make the end with weight a bit lower than the end with cart, instead of adjusting it from the tonearm? Cause I do have a thicker mat than the stock felt one that I'm using. Maybe just to try it out before I adjust the actual VTA setting on the tonearm?
