and I have had an AT 440ML (not"a"), a 681EEE (many years ago), and an OM30 so I have an admittedly flawed basis for comparison with the Eroica LX (the passage of time and a changing system & auditory memory). However, I tend to stick with favorites for the long term, and the Eroica LX's faults may lie in what I haven't heard from a cartridge. The 103 and the Sonata have proponents to be sure and megabuck cartridges are superior by default with no arguement from me--they should be! But insofar as being tonally accurate, less finicky about MC phono stage differences, quietness in the groove with little or no inner groove distortion or sibilance, the Eroica LX--properly aligned--goes about its main business of providing me with musical satisfaction which at times verges on excitement. Its strengths just re-assert themselves every time I try something new and go back to it, like an old dear friend :-)
