The execrable hack G. E. Smith (best known for ruining Saturday Night Live's house band for a decade) is the all - time champion for ridiculous mugging while playing. He grimaces like he's passing a kidney stone or bench pressing 500 pounds while extruding tired licks that one can hear teenagers play as well at any Guitar Center store on a Saturday afternoon. One critic perfectly described Smith as "he can play anything and make it mean nothing."
