Even if your CD player has a 24-bit DAC, it still reads 16-bit data from the CD. It may do all of its oversampling math and playback in 24-bits, but it cannot create resolution.
I don't believe an LP contains the equivalent of 24 bit+ information. The reason is that more bit depth gives you more signal to noise, a place where the LP does not excel. You can take 16-bit audio, add in dithering noise and still be quieter than LP.
I do believe that the LP gives you frequency response that surpasses 44.1KHz sampling, however.
