RCA Shaded Dogs

I was cleaning my RCA Victor pressing of Jefferson Airplane's "Crown of Creation" and I noticed the dog was shaded grey and brown in some spots. Is this what "Shaded Dogs" refer to or is it something else? I just looked at some RCA Victor classical LPs that I have and the dog had the same grey shading and brown ears.
