Don Brewer of Grand Funk Railroad is an amazing drummer and is still at his craft, age 59, right now and in excellent health.
Don Brewer, Circa 1969 - 1972, this cat was awesome, "THE" premiere hard rock drummer of the era, bar none.
In fact, it was Don Brewer on drums that outperformed a equally young and up and coming John Bonham of Led Zeppelin back in 1969, that had the audience in a frenzy. Grand Funk Railroad was opening for Led Zeppelin, but the might Funk outperformed Led Zeppelin, leading a very angry Zep manager, Peter Grant, approach GFR's manager Terry Knight, to have GFR removed from the stage IMMEDIATELY!
When Knight balked, and told Grant to "sit down", Zeppelin's Peter Grant pulled the power on Grand Funk Railroad five minutes later, causing a near riot.
True story. Don Brewer, is an amazing drummer once a person takes the time to study his technique. Ed
