Digital Clipping - Icky Thump

Sound Forge shows this album clipping at + .01. Anyone who knows the medium wouldn't stoop that low. Well, Stadium Arcadium seems to be the engineers joke of crappy mastering. Digital clipping.

Icky Thump on CD, what the hell happened? I know Steve Hoffman redid the 1" tapes recently, but why do I have to get digital clipping all over the snare drum on the commercial release?

They're coming to Winnipeg next week, I need the music, can't wait for the pressing. It's so akin to Hurt, done by Johnny Cash. You know all the originals were done analog, but on the mastered product, you hear this evil digital clipping on the tender piano, the climax of the song. I feel flush in the face for Johnny letting this mastering go past his wisdom. Analog tape doesn't do that. Sort of like Pet Sounds. Although every instrument is "cleaned up" in the new mix, it's not what he fired against Revolver, and the omnipresent LA type crowd.

Anyone who has the Pet Sounds Boxed Set knows about Doonesbury. He was the one with the Emerson playback system, with scratched up to hell records, not knowing how the mix involves complex emotions.
