The approximation I'm referring to is sin(theta) = theta.
I don't use this approximation in my spreadsheet and it makes a small difference. It shows that the null-points actually change very slightly with arm length.
As the tonearm becomes very long, tracking error becomes very small and sin(theta) becomes much closer to theta. Consequently, the actual null-points converge on Baerwald's null-points.
