Just off the cuff....
1. Motor Cooling ... really depends on the Model of table you're plinthing. The Garrards use their platter to disperse upwards-rising heat, to some extent, and their broad top-plate as a sink to radiate if things get too hot. What's not optional is allowing at least a bit of venting in the bottom of the plinth to allow fresh air in so it can be drawn up and away .....
2. Shielding.... Can't generalize all the way, but, nonetheless, if a motor is well-shielded enough to allow sensitive phono cartridges to work very closely nearby without issue, the phonostage, usually shielded itself--- on a rack, several inches and a shelf away --should be fine.
3. Footers ... All over the map. To some extent governed by your table-siting specifics, ie, shelf composition, wallshelf or rack, isolated or coupled, environmental vibrations, etc. I use Aurios, two front one rear, sunk about 1/4" into the bottom of the plinth and resting on very small, thin vinyl 'mats' against the slate wallshelf.
4. Armageddon-style stepdown trannie is best located-- I've found --- far left of the table, away from the sound gear, if feasible. And do the opposite of the table-siting... ie, if table is wall-shelved, site the arma on a floorstanding rack, or vice-versa. For sheer overkill, I did a heavy multilayer wood casing and installed spikes.
