For those who may be interested, the plinth I made for this is two 3/4" thick pieces of MDF sandwiched between three 10 gage sheets of steel. The bloodwood on the sides is actually only 3/16" thick for aesthetics. The top is piano black acrylic. I made my own SAMA motor housing out of aluminum and used a VPI 300 rpm replacement motor. The whole rig weighs about 50 lbs. My cartridge is a Clearaudio Maestro Wood going into a GSP ERA V Gold. It has turned out to be a very nice sounding rig.
I also have some 1 1/4" thick aluminum stock and 1/2" black acrylic. I am going to make another sandwiched plinth similar to other VPI's and compare for fun.

Thanks, Mike
