Yes and no.
You can't respond to a message that has previously been archived. For Vinyl, that cut off is May 15 because I archived all the boards prior to the change over, so that I could better monitor the new page creation code. In the future, there's no limit. You could respond to this post 3 months from now.
However, at some point, we'll likely need to do some sort of archiving of really old posts, a year or two without a reply, and moderators can archive a thread or a branch if they want to close a thread.
BTW: We also added a View counter to the messages to show the number of views for both the message and the thread. This option also only show up for current contributors as it is somewhat resource intensive.
