what happened to the other "format" when the site first came online today?

When I first posted right after VA came back online, the forum was in a different format... the same "subject box" format that the Steve Hoffman forum site has (Subject in each box, with replies only read if you go into subject box).. also Vinyl Engine has this format...
I thought it an improvement over this format, as, it uses less space, no need to scroll so much or waste time reading what your not really looking for..
