Re: DYNAVECTOR 17D3 Phono Cartridge

Goldring 1012 and 1042. Pretty good sounding MM's with nice midrange. The 1042 sounds more detailed than the 1012 of cource. But they are both a little buzzy sounding and lack depth due to being MM's. Not bad though for MM.

Eroica. Blck background and a taste of the MC sound. A good start but not really very good compared to other carts. Sounds completly differen't from the 1042. It doesn't have the midrange of the 1042.

103R Decent sounding cart with a nice midrange. Punchy bass but not well enough defined. Lacks definition due to the conical stylus.

Retipped 103R. A huge step up from the standard version. Really refined sounding compared to the standard. Everything improved by a wide margin. Still lacks dynamics compared to Dynavectors though.

Dynavector 10X5. I very good $300 buck cart. Very dynamic with a wide open midrange. I really liked this cart until I heard a fineline stylus on a LO MC. Since then I couldn't go back to anything less.

Right now the 17D3 blows everything else I have heard away. I would love to hear more expensive items but I may have hit my cieling regarding price.

I do have a Shelter 501 I'm trying out. I will withhold comment on it for now.
