Back to back, my Koetsu makes the 17D3 sound dry, thin and lifeless.(yes, I own a Koetsu and have tried a 17D3 in my system).Should I insult folks with 17D3's by calling it "midfi" because I have better? Believe me, the Koetsu is waaaaaay better, but thoughtless comments such as the one you make is nothing other than tactless.
No, I know that is as much as most folks can afford and I am happy for them when they say they enjoy it.
BTW, I use a 103 for my worn LP's - no use killing a Koetsu on worn/scratched LP's. I cannot recall the 17D3 being so much better - maybe worth a $100, most certainly not worth $600 more ...
