SRA vs VTA

Lately there has been lots of discussion on this topic. The more I read , however, the more confused I got. Thoma_A posted a url that clearned things up; well, at least they became less foggy. Here it is:

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~yosh/vta.htm

What is interesting is the comment that VTF can affect SRA. Makes sense if you think about it, but I was lead to believe that VTA was the main determinant, except in the case of sperical stylii where VTF is the driver.

The other point was that the Denon DL-103 is mentioned in a table about cutting head angles. Quote: "American recording companies CBS & RCA used cutter angle 23 degrees while European companies such as London/Decca used 0 degrees. IEC/RIAA recommended standardisation of VMA to 15degrees so that SPU/EMT/Shure at the time adopted VTA as 15degrees." The Denon DL-103 and Shure V-15 VTA angles are 16 and 15 degrees, respectively. (See url for definition of VTA in this context.)

Anyway, I don't guarantee the accuracy of the comments on the above site. But they are great food for thought.
