I'm using the stock mat as well, but because of the height of the Audio-Technica cartridge I'm using I've needed to raise the mat up a little so that I still have the ability to adjust VTA with more range. I'm using a thin felt mat, cut to size, under the stock one.I don't know if that has changed the sound any. I'm like you....I'm loving the sound as is, ( especially with the KAB mods installed..highly recommended, BTW).
I think any changes in the sound of the Technics would be more affected by the platform that it's placed on than what kind or combination of mats you may use.. IMO
So...which combination have you preffered,golgi ?
