Hello Joe,I am glad that it has helped.
It was only as I read your last post that it reminded me of a friends Audio Note DAC. He had it powered up for years and it rocked. We heard a rumours that the tubes only lasted 5,000 (?) effective hours and then took a down turn.
It just so happened that I had a new set of 6922 Sovtek for my headphone amp... so we chucked them in and were blown away.... but it was sounding good anyway...odd really.
I think the failing eyesight comparison is a good one.It is good to know that a question aired can sometimes help somebody out.
