Hey,Well, our recent and brief discussion about my preamp tubes got me thinking. I ordered a new set from AA sponsor Tube Depot. MAN what a difference! I guess tube aging is sorta like diminishing eyesight in that you might not be aware that it's happening because it such a slow process. I was thinking all was well. BIG mistake.
Anyway, thanks for helping set me straight. BTW, I ordered NOS Mullard 12AT7/ECC81, NOS RFT 12AU7/ECC82, and new Sovtek 12AX7LPS. I paid a little extra for noise and microphonics testing for the phono tubes (ECC81 and 12AX7). My C-J has truly been transformed. It was amazing -- about 45 min to an hour in it seemed almost like I threw some switch or something -- the sound just blossomed. I am now a very happy camper. Man, you gotta love the VA, even though way too much nastiness has been creeping in lately (my opinion).
