Radio stations were the major target for the DL 103X models. This is because the 103X delivers consistent musical sound regardless of the albums grams or thickness, and regardless of the wear level of the album. The Denon conical is very unlike other conicals. It is highly polished and precise .07 size. It also has a longer service life than any conical I am familiar.
I find it does like to have its specified 15 degree VTA. Just set it there and enjoy the music.
For 250 bucks for a 103R I do not think anyone would be disappointed with their purchase.
If you are after audiophile sound reproduction you will need to jump up to the higher priced cartridges and be prepared to pay 800 dollars or more to beat it.
