JH is using superregulators in the Ripper and you can swap those into the Bugle for less noise. Send him an email and ask him which one's he uses.You can also use a different chasssis and move the power supply further away from the signal board.
As well, you can bring the Bugle down to 50db for less noise. Mine runs at 50 and the only high level noise was from hum when it was misplaced above another EMI source.
I know that there is noise inherent in the Bugle design, JH points this out, that can not be totally overcome but nmitigated to unimportant levels. Noise dropped a lot with it and surface noise is minimal but not totally gone. I think the noise that is generated also generates pop/click activity but i am at a loss to explain how. I know that that noise is reputedly gone in the Cornet, but then we are both talking SUTs for sure.
Long story short, drop the gain to 50 and use a SUT. You can always build another pre but the SUT will come in handy in all those cases.
BTW, which opamps are you using?
