I use a Compaq USB flex light on a powered Hub.
The Compaq Flex light (Has two bright LED's) was $4.99
The powered hub was $14.00 (Sticky Velcro to stand)
Picked them both up at xscargo, this is a liquidator in Canada.Was thinking of making a small stand with a switch/USB port and just patch it to the hub, but works just fine as it is.
