And the cartridge may be riding in a slightly different groove, not allowing you to hear the worn part (not visible often).I was playing a Mozart LP of Bruno Walter the other day, and the first 2/3 was fine, but the person who owned the LP must have liked the last 2 overtures and may have had a mistracking cartridge and arm. They were raspy as you stated.
I will wait until I replace my Linn K9 with my new Shure V15VxMR to decide.
