Wow. Got it dialed in. Upon just eyeballing the alignment, I was not far off at all when checked with the alignment guage that I got off here many moons ago. Then it was get the Shure VTF guage and first of all, had to take the counter weight out so the cart rode right. Then I got it adjusted to perfect and now I'm spinning Bachman Turner Overdrive II on it and it's wonderful.
The album has an overly bright tonal quality to it but now it's very listenable to say the least. The mids and low end seems to be more present than it had on the Ort.
I know I need to let it break in and this is any indication, it sounds really nice. Much more in line with my digital front ends as far as being overly bright, or the lack there of anyway.
Now one thing I did notice, The Ort had to be turned up some, the Shure requires even more gain to get a similar volume level, going through the stock phono stage on the Sherwood receiver. Sounds great and clean so far.
More thoughts, reviews as this thing breaks in. :-)
