I have a Premier FT-3 with a Denon 103R mounted on it and am tempted to experiment with adding mass to the arm via blu-tak. I'm too lazy to fully search the archives with respect to this question. From what I've seen discussed on this subject, conventional wisdom is to crank the mass onto the headshell-I'm assuming it should probably be cranked right between the two mounting screws as opposed to (at least in my case) a more forward position as close to possible over the actual stylus. My further question is this: has anyone experimented with actually placing the blu-tak on top of the tonearm itself, perhaps in small blobs equidistant from each other (assuming each blob, of course, weighs exactly the same as the other blob)? Any thoughts on whether there is merit in this idea, placmement position along the tonearm, etc. or whether it's totally wacky and I should just stick to the headshell?
Thanks in advance for any opinions and/or (especially) experience related comments.

- That's one example. With a more typical arm mass of 10-12 it looks a bit different. - Garth 23:34:17 09/13/06 (0)
