Peterbassman:

*Wow, a lot of Rega bashing in this thread. *

I dont know where you're getting that, but its not from me, the OP. I'm just saying what my experience is, and that I'd like it to be different, obviously.

**Here's my 0.02$ on the subject: I've owned and used a Rega Planar 3 (i.e. the older model with the glass platter & RB300 arm) for 11 years and I'm still quite happy with it, I use it practically every day and yes, to my ears it makes music. And it has never needed any repairs or tweaks, which suits me perfectly as I very much prefer to spend my time listening to music than tweaking.**

I still dont know if the P3 is more musical, or if there's a problem with my P2.

**Many different TT's have been mentioned in this thread (Thorens, Linn, Michell etc etc); comparing Rega budget models with, say, Linn isn't fair, it's like comparing a VW Beetle with a Porsche. Sure the Porsche has more power, features, better acceleration etc but both will get you from A to B. Of course a TT like Linn Sondek LP12 will outperform the Rega P2 (or P3), but people have different needs and priorities. Here's a price comparison with local prices for the Linn Sondek LP12 and Rega P3:**

Again, not speaking for others, but as the OP, I've only compared it to a deck that cost me $38US (Connie) and about $70 (Thorens). I'd say its a fair comparison, when I say both decks kill the P2 for musicality.
