My father had a Connoisseur BD2 also, which I bought for him as a package deal with a Dyna SCA80 and Dyna A35XL speakers and I have to agree that the Connoisseur's main (only?)advantage was that it was cheap. From what I've read in an old Hi Fi Choice, quality control was, um, spotty, and for an English publication to say that QC is spotty is saying something. Joe Rosen, who used to frequent the Vintage Asylum, once referred to it as the Conno-Sewer, but then he had a way with words.
