Home Vinyl Asylum

Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

Unusally only an audiophile company will have the time and money to go back to the original Analog master.

If the digital remaster already exists for the CD version and you are selling the LPs for $10 a piece like OJC then it is much cheaper to use the version that is at hand rather than go back to the analog master.

I have read most OJC LPs are from Digital masters, as are most Columbia/Sony LPs, in these cases Classic Records is the only way to go short of finding the original pressing at a decent price.

My guess would be that most modern commercial label LPs are from Digital Masters unless they proclaim they are from Analog masters.

Just an additional thing I hate about Digital, the Digital remasterings of analog recordings. It is an outright plague, I wish I could go back and end the digital infestation at the source and keep Digital from ever being used for music in the first place. What a travesty and a shame.

"Analog is Music, Digital is mathematics"
Happy listening,
Teresa
