I was thinking about the OL motor for my VPI HW19, as the OL mods on my Rega arm are Awesome.
But searching the Archives here for posts about VPI, I found posts from HW, who is Harry Wiesfield, founder and designer at VPI. He says DC motors have a deadening effect on sound, thats why he and so many others stick with AC motors. You should search for posts by HW to read for yourself.
