Generally, the look of equipment doesn’t really matter much to me—with one exception. I don’t think I could ever have a Technics SL-1200 turntable, no matter how good it is, simply because of that grotesque S-shaped tonearm. It’s one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen. I don’t think I’d be able to sleep at night if I had one of those in my house. I don’t know why, and I wish I could get past it, but I just can’t.No offense to those who like the Technics or to assessments of its performance; just a response to a question about looks.
