Oregon - Any Fans?

I'm just enjoying their "Crossing" LP from 1985 (ECM 1291 - states a Digital Recording). The music strikes me as sort of fusion Mood/Jazz/Modern (classical), mostly acoustic instruments but with a variety of setting, e.g. "Queen of Sydney" (oboe, flute, Prophet 5 synthesizer, piano, tabla, percussion), "Alpenbridge" (classical guitar, Prophet 5, bass clarinet, sax, cornet, piano, tabla, percussion).

Very pleasant and while note stated I'd guess that must of the material was inspired by interesting rhythms and especially beats as those lines are prominent.

The sound very good although on some tracks the odd horn appears to have been recorded a little *hot*, that sort of "about to bust into nasty* feeling ... perhaps a little carelessness.

Of the musician ... Ralph Tower, Paul McCandless, Colin Walcott, Glen Moore ... I believe I seem Tower elsewhere but I'm not certain.

Good stuff!
