I need to remove my Lenco idler wheel (help).

This might be a bit "noob-ish" but here goes:

My current idler wheel has a slight imperfection (my own silly doing) so I bought another one from eBay (at a price). Luckily it is 100% even/straight.

How do I remove the metal circlip (it looks a bit like a crab's claw) that holds the wheel in place without resorting to violence? It seems to be fitted very tightly in place. I was hoping that I won't need to remove the whole arm assembly that holds the wheel in place from the top-plate.

Is there a tool for this or do I just need to be more forceful? My fear is that I accidentally break the circlip.
