Earlier I had posted about an Advertisment for an AR turntable . The owner stated that it was made in England. I thought maybe he had gotten Cambridge Mass. and Cambridge England mixed up. Or maybe he saw the teledyne address. It looks he was correct. It is indeed a "made in the UK" model.
This address ought to bring back some memories. Now I know how it got to the states..returned with a G.I. The audio clubs often bought Euro versions of familiar equipment. Voltage issues and better prices and all that.alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" />
Of course I photographed the french side where it says "Made in The UK"
Even thought its called" the AR turntable" I see no difference between it and the AR table called "the Legend " or the Es-1 for that matter.(shrug)anyway I bought the darn thing..no it wasnt NIB..it had been set up by someone..The tonearm counter weight and the cartridge were installed and adjusted. None the less it is pristine..no scratches or signs of wear at all. It looks like it was set up then packed away. The fella I bought it from got it from the original owner who said he bought it and put it away.. It looks it
what I found in the box
I don't know why there are two mats ..the carbon fibre looking anti static mat may be aftermarket..though its made in Massachusetts. Anyone know anything about these..do You put it on to of the felt one..its really thin and stiff. Both of the matts have never been dirty..they look like brand new.
It came with an AT 152LP cartridge.
The plinth is spotless with no wear at all.
the guts..its a suspended table. It has two grounds wires. One running off of the suspension and the other from the normal source(tone arm)
This was in the box..a record of modifications done or needing to be done ???..In the upper right hand corner there is a date 11/7/73 written in. the date of 73 is really perplexing. Anyone know what year this table was made? This table couldnt possibly be 33 years old could it?
Its a handsome table..I'm looking forward to mounting another cartridge and see what she will do.
Ernie
ps I gave him 200 bucks for it..
