I just bought one. After using a Music Mat on a Luxman PD441 (Platter Matter clone) since about 1982, I got in the mood to experiment with mats. Also found a vintage Nagaoka Crystal Mat. And I have the Luxman's stock 1/4" thick black rubber mat. I'm going to get a Herbie's Way Excellent and then start comparing unless I decide to add something else interesting. Have some downtime between Xmas and New Year's so will go to it then.The Luxman PD441/444 have aluminum alloy platters.
I also owned a Pink Triangle turntable for many years, which had an acrylic platter I used naked. I thought acrylic worked beautifully as a platter material. If the acrylic pad wins my comparo I'm going to look for someone to machine an acrylic clone of my Luxman aluminum platter.
