Digital transcription also helps reduce the impact of pops on scratched records. This is the only case I can think of where the resolution limitations of 16-bit/44.1kHz PCM is a good thing! In my own experience DAT/CD copies are discernable from the LP, because if anything, the noise sounds different.-Anthony
