Re: How is the state of digital copy vs original LP...

I think digital does an excellent job of copying vinyl. I much prefer to listen to vinyl from a digital copy because to me it sounds the same and I can turn up the volume without the slightest risk of acoustic feedback.

I began using digital audio tape (DAT) recorders to copy vinyl in 1991 and I have now graduated to CD-R. My favorite digital recorder is the Alesis ML-9600 because it can make high-resolution digital copies as well as standard Redbook copies. However, I find Redbook copies to be quite sufficient and perfectly acceptable for long term listening.
