Re: A Good Lightweight Clamp that will fit a Systemdek IIX?

I have one of those clamps, and used to run it on my old Systemdek II. It obviously works very well with the Systemdek's tall spindle, but it is a spring-loaded clamp that presses down with quite some force on the LP. It hasn't done any harm to the many records I played using it, but the firm clamping force is a point to bear in mind.

The clamp tidied up the sound with my original Linn Basik LVV, but seemed less influential with a better arm. I eventually took to running the deck without it, partly for the sake of convenience, and my ultimate set-up with that deck featured a Ringmat, for which a record clamp is contra-indicated.

Of currently available clamps, have you considered the Clearaudio Clever Clamp? Spindle height is no problem with this model, and it is cheap!

HTH,

Mark
