Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

I agree

I've yet to hear a CDP at any price that can surpass a modest, well set-up vinyl rig given equally well-recorded music.

I've had a chance to home demo several highly regarded modern CDPs that cost in excess of $3K to $4K, and not one of them was as musically enjoyable as my old (cheap, early 80's) Rega Planar 2/Grace 707/Denon 207/Tibi step-up/vintage integrated phono. Subsequent upgrades easily left that worthy rig in the dust, but it had better rhythmic drive, musical flow, and emotional expressiveness than any CDP I've been exposed to.

To say nothing of the bargain price of good used vinyl compared to the rip-off cost of nasty discs. And now, thanks to Sony's suited tapeworms, you can buy the latter complete with a built-in virus! Such a deal.

I think every music lover needs both analog and digital formats to keep their ears happy and well-fed, but digital will always be vinyl's retarded second cousin.
