I would also dampen the platter and use a better mat.Felt has not worked well for me on my Linn, my Thorens, or my Kenwood tables. I am using a Platter Matter Mat right now and it is very neutral with great overall balance.
Silicone dampening made a huge difference on my SME arms and Kenwood table and I bet it will deepen and better define the bass on the 103R cartridge as well.
