I dunno but one day I was putting a record on my old man's thorens & I noticed that the arm pillar of the hadcock was finger tight - I got underneath & tightened it up propper. The next week I went to play a record & he'd loosened it again !
Nowadays I know better & my gyro has a werner copy type de coupling arrangement with O rings & the pillar is finger tight. Why it works I have no idea.
