I called Tom Fletcher at Nottingham recently. I wanted to get his advice regarding some excessive sibelence issues I have encountered. He recomended that I loosen everything. The grub screws on the arm collar should just be tight enough to hold the thing in place, without dropping and the same for the cartridge screws. I lossened the grub screws first and noticed two things, the whole quality of the sound and the size of the soundstage improved. The biting quality to the sibelence was reduced a lot.
This morning, I held my breath and lossened the screws on the cartridge a bit and the sibelence smoothed out even more.
This whole concept of "very loose confounds me. Is it decoupling the arm/cart somehow? Its the polar opposite of "Linn" tight
Happy Holidays
